Brookwood Hospital is part of the largest network of healthcare with specialty and primary care physicians spread across five hospitals throughout Central Alabama. Brookwood Baptist is a 645-bed comprehensive medical center with prominent cardiovascular, emergency, neurosciences, orthopedics, oncology, mental health programs (one of the largest providers in the state) and Alabama's first dedicated women's hospital. Essential Functions
• Consistently demonstrates competency in vascular ultrasound diagnostics including: Two Dimensional Imaging, M-Mode
Imaging, Color Flow and Spectral Doppler.
• Performs Carotid Ultrasound, Venous Doppler of upper and lower limbs, Arterial Doppler of upper and lower limbs, ,
Transcranial studies, Cerebrovascular Studies, Graft Imaging, Hemodialysis Access, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, and Temporal
Artery Ultrasound according to laboratory protocol(s), while optimizing all available modalities of the imaging equipment to
acquire the most comprehensive studies.
• Able to assist Vascular surgeon for intraoperative vascular cases.
• Recognizes normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent
clinical and diagnostic information.
• Accurately records verbal vascular orders from physicians in the patient’s medical record. Likewise, technologist transfers
instructions and ideas effectively to avoid confusion and to ensure understanding, and functions independently in the absence
of the supervisor and/or Cardiology/Vascular Manager.
• Performs routine ultrasound equipment maintenance, including transducer decontamination. Technologist communicates
openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare organization, participates in the hospital CQI process and assists in
department clerical duties as needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data
reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements
relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to
provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.
• Participate in the Quality Review Program within the laboratory and compliance with the accreditation governing body such as
Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
• Assist in transporting of patients.
• Schedules patients and coordinates cardiology/vascular procedures.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her
assigned unit.
• Demonstrates competency in contrast medication administration.
Education/Training
Education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or
Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.
Licensure/Certification
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); and/or
• Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); and
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
Experience
Experience as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular
Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.
