Baptist Health Shelby Hospital’s Geriatric Psychiatric (Geri Psych) Floor is a 20-bed inpatient psychiatric unit dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients with complex mental health and medical needs. Our unit is committed to delivering compassionate, interdisciplinary care in a safe and secure environment tailored to meet the unique lifestyle requirements of each patient, regardless of age.
The unit offers a diverse range of specialized services, including medical management, social work support, recreational therapy, and case management. While patients are admitted to the Geri Psych Floor, the nursing team plays a central role in providing holistic care, addressing both psychiatric conditions and co-occurring medical comorbidities to promote optimal recovery and quality of life.

Essential Functions
• Initially and concurrently assesses all adult and adolescent clients within assigned population to include but not limited to:
diagnosis/medical history; current treatments/therapies; age; payment source; criteria compliance; resources; support systems;
anticipated needs; appropriate level ofservice;special/personal needs; and any other relevant information.
• Obtains referrals from Behavioral Health specialty medical and mental health providers and other referral sources to assess adult and adolescent client needs.
• Acts as an advocate for patient’s health care needs.
• Provides outreach and education at health fairs and other community events
• Facilitates family meetingsto discusslab results, provider recommendations, and plan of care with client’s care team.
• Maintainsrecords and documentation of work performed in an organized and easily retrievable fashion
• Maintains positive relationships with supervisor, peers, collaborative team, families, and community contacts.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.'
Other Related Functions
• Maintains confidentiality of data and information in compliance with HIPPA regulation and Orlando Health policies.
• Completes orientation and departmentspecific competencies
Education/Training
Master's degree in psychology, social work, or healthcare related field.
Licensure/Certification
Experience
One (1) year experience in case management or related patient care support role working in community agency, out-patient facility, or hospital setting
