Position Summary
Responsible for cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
• The Sterile Processing Technician works under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations
Specialist, or SPD Supervisor, must be able to work cooperatively with other members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team.
• Demonstrates a sense of professionalism and ethical standards.
• Able to complete tasks as assigned and use the appropriate resources and references available for processing instrumentation
and equipment.
• Using attained knowledge of sterilization processes, the Sterile Processing Technician will begin to learn to work independently
in an ever-changing technical environment.
• Demonstrates, through clinical practice, knowledge, and an understanding of sterilization process, from cleaning and
decontamination through packaging, sterilization, and distribution of instrument tray for surgical case carts according to pick lists
or surgeon’s preference cards.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state,
and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training
High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
Within first year of employment:
• Successful completion of the SPD Readiness Course.
