Position Summary
Serves as Reference and Education Librarian.

Location: This role will be located at Grandview Medical Center Library.
Hours: standard day time hours (i.e. 8am-4:30pm)
Essential Functions
• Provides in-depth reference and research services to all employees, affiliates, and the community.
• Conducts literature searches, library and database orientations, and user education services.
• Assists users in the general use of the library, including its electronic and print resources, library facilities and equipment.
• Assists with computer programs and document scanning.
• Evaluates, recommends, and participates in the selection of print, electronic, and other multimedia resources. Provides document
location and retrieval services.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
• May be required to assist in the budget process.
• Assists in the planning, organization, management, and performance of technical, reference, and audiovisual services.
• Assists Manager with special projects as required.
• Assists Manager and Systems Librarian in providing computer resources.
• Participates in the development and preparation of policies and procedures, organization, budget, and short and long term programs.
• Participates in the regular evaluation of the department’s goals and services.
• Participates in all areas of library services: selection, acquisition, processing, cataloging, document delivery, and inventory.
Participates in outreach networking of library services.
• Participates in the promotion and representation of the library.
• Participates in local, regional, and national information networks (i. e., National Network of Libraries of Medicine) that support Baptist Health in its mission to serve the community.
• Serves on hospital committees and at community events, as appropriate.
• Responsible for statistical documentation.
• Assists with computer lab maintenance. Trouble shoots computer problems for users.
• Assists in supervising and training technical and clerical staff.
• Assumes responsibility of library operation in the absence of the Manager, when required or requested.
• Assumes the responsibility for professional growth and continuing education.
Education/Training
Master’s Degree in Library Science from a library school accredited by the American Library Association.
Licensure/Certification
None.
Experience
• Two (2) years of post-degree reference experience in a health sciences library setting, science and technology library, OR
• Related experience. Knowledge and experience in automated library technology and database use and management (e.g. OVID, PubMed, etc.)
