Responsibilities

Essential Functions
Provides routine treatments and interventions consistent with the educational level and skills learned in the academic environment and demonstrated competency through Orlando Health.


Performs skills after achievement of demonstrated competencies such as: nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, and removal; wound irrigation; complex dressing change without packing of wounds; maintenance of enteral tube feeding.


Performs increase or continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients as assigned.


Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs.


Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team.
Assures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.


Follows standard precautions. Adheres to Hand Hygiene and PPE procedures.


Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the registered nurse (RN) and other members of the healthcare team.


Participates in handoff report and purposeful hourly rounding on patients.


Documents information according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines.


Transports and assists patients through the admission and discharge process. Transports Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients to diagnostic testing and procedures.


Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.

Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products and medications (excluding substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.

Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls and guest requests.

Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.


Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health and Orlando Health

Qualifications

Nurse Intern Requirements:

Education/Training: Must be a nursing student enrolled in a registered nurse (ADN, BSN, or MSN) nursing program at a college or university and have successfully completed Fundamentals of Nursing Course accompanied with clinical rotation.  Proof of enrollment in a pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment to exceed one year is required.
Licensure/Certification: 
Current BLS/Healthcare provider certification. 

 

Senior Nurse Intern Requirements:

Education/Training:Must be a nursing student enrolled in a registered nurse (ADN, BSN, or MSN) nursing program at a college or university and are successfully entering into their final two semesters of the RN Program. Proof of enrollment in a pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment to exceed one year is required.
Licensure/Certification:  Current BLS/Healthcare provider certification
