Position Summary
The Quality Director provides leadership and guidance in implementing activities, processes, and policies that ensure high-quality patient care aligned with system-wide clinical practices and standards. Collaborates closely with nursing staff, medical professionals, executive leadership, and the quality team to advance Baptist Health’s strategic goals for quality improvement and regulatory compliance. Supports initiatives that enhance patient safety, promote best practices, and align with the overall strategic plan of Baptist Health.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effectively communicating the corporate initiatives and expectations to all team members and physicians at the facility.
  • Works with the medical, nursing, allied health/support services leadership and senior leadership to implement strategies focused on quality, safety, and service.
  • Collaborates with the performance improvement team.
  • Works with various quality councils to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for the hospital’s progress on quality score card and Board metrics. Establishes and maintains an open and positive working relationship with the medical staff, hospital leadership team, and other nursing, and allied health/support services leaders.
  • Participates in the integration of healthcare technology and information management systems that support service needs.
  • Responsible for compliance of all regulatory standards related to clinical care (TJC, AHCA) at the hospital level.
  • Works with the leadership team to develop a culture and practice environment that embraces quality and patient safety and is in compliance with the requirements of the various regulatory agencies.
  • Works collaboratively with the CQO to develop and implement the hospital level strategic plan for quality and safety.
  • Promotes a satisfied, healthy work environment for the workforce by establishing a climate of growth, challenge, and development of all team members.
  • Organizes and leads workgroups to achieve success with hospital quality metrics.
  • Works with the CQO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the development and management of the department budget.
  • Manages various human resources functions for assigned team members including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.

Qualifications

  • Education/Training: Master’s degree required in a clinical discipline, industrial engineering, or related field. Master's in Nursing preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Active Alabama nursing license preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in leading patient care and quality initiatives in a healthcare (hospital) environment
