Responsibilities

๐Ÿงช Essential Functions

  • Understands and adheres to safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Aligns daily practice with the hospital’s mission, pharmacy department goals, and Baptist Health policies.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy department operations.
  • Collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary teams to support patient care and customer service.
  • Operates pharmacy equipment safely and in accordance with procedures and regulations.
  • Accurately dispenses medications and IV fluids using the medication dispensing system per scientific principles and policy.
  • Documents activities and interventions in appropriate systems and forms, following standards of care and quality improvement guidelines.
  • Utilizes hospital and departmental computer systems proficiently.
  • Develops and maintains competency in health-system pharmacy practice, including pharmacotherapy, patient care, drug information, and practice management.
  • Plans, executes, and monitors pharmaceutical care plans.
  • Performs clinical responsibilities such as pharmacotherapy consultations, pharmacokinetics, and TPN initiation/monitoring, as applicable.
  • Evaluates and responds to clinical alerts (e.g., IV to PO conversions, renal dosing protocols).
  • Investigates and reports adverse drug reactions and medication errors, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds when applicable to site of practice.
  • Maintains punctual and regular attendance in compliance with Baptist Health and applicable regulations (ADA, FMLA).
  • Complies with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
  • Promotes open communication with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and team members to ensure a positive experience.
  • Demonstrates age-specific care competencies, assessing and responding to patient needs across the lifespan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

๐ŸŽ“ Education & Training

  • Pharmacy degree required: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • Completion of PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency is preferred

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Licensure & Certification

  • Must hold an active license with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy
  • License must be renewed every two years
