Sterile Processing Tech I FT

SHIFT: 2pm-10:30pm

 

Position Summary 

Responsible for cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and equipment. 

 

The campus also includes the Women’s Medical Center, providing full-service care for women at all stages of life, including gynecologic surgery, maternity, and a labor and delivery unit with a Level III NICU. The center holds Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions 

  • The Sterile Processing Technician works under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations Specialist, or SPD Supervisor, must be able to work cooperatively with other members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team.  
  • Demonstrates a sense of professionalism and ethical standards.  
  • Able to complete tasks as assigned and use the appropriate resources and references available for processing instrumentation and equipment.  
  • Using attained knowledge of sterilization processes, the Sterile Processing Technician will begin to learn to work independently in an ever-changing technical environment. 
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. 
  • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures. 
  • The Sterile Processing Technician may or may not be certified, or possess completion status in the Baptist Health and Orlando Health SPD Core Course.  
  • Participates in all unit quality control activities.  
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the relationship of their role to patient care.  
  • Responsible for helping to maintain a safe environment for fellow team members as well as patients. 

Qualifications

Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. 

Licensure/Certification Within first year of employment: Successful completion of the Baptist Health or Orlando Health SPD Core Course and maintain 12 continuing education points per year.
