Heart South is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our Imaging Services team. This role serves as a direct patient caregiver, performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures while ensuring high-quality imaging, patient safety, and exceptional care.

 

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and committed to maintaining the highest standards in imaging and radiation safety.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, including:
    • Nuclear Medicine studies
    • SPECT and SPECT CT imaging
    • PET imaging (as assigned)
    • Cardiac stress laboratory functions, as required
  • Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceutical doses in accordance with regulations
  • Process, enhance, and document images for physician interpretation
  • Operate and maintain nuclear medicine and imaging equipment
  • Perform quality control and safety checks on all nuclear medicine instrumentation
  • Perform venipuncture and evaluate IV access for medication and radiopharmaceutical administration
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with radiation safety and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in the ALARA Radiation Safety Program
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures being performed
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times
  • Maintain compliance with Baptist Health policies, departmental guidelines, and education requirements

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program
  • Experience not required, but must have working knowledge of:
    • Nuclear medicine procedures
    • Equipment operation
    • Radiation safety principles

Licensure & Certifications

Must meet one of the following:

  • Current Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) certification through NMTCB
  • Current ARRT (N) certification in Nuclear Medicine

Additionally required:

  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
