LEAD SURGICAL NAVIGATION SPECIALIST

 

Position Summary
Serves as an advanced clinical and technical expert supporting complex surgical and interventional procedures that utilize imaging and navigation technologies. This role provides on‑site education, case support, and consultative guidance to surgeons, clinical staff,
and internal teams. The specialist partners closely with clinical leadership and hospital personnel to ensure optimal outcomes, drive product adoption, and support growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
• Independently supports high‑complexity surgical cases, including multi‑modality imaging, real‑time navigation adjustments, and
intraoperative troubleshooting.
• Anticipates procedural needs and proactively adjusts imaging parameters, navigation workflows, and equipment configurations
to optimize surgical outcomes.
• Leads intraoperative problem‑solving when navigation accuracy, imaging quality, or system performance is compromised.
• Performs advanced imaging procedures requiring nuanced understanding of anatomy, pathology, and surgical intent.
• Interprets and validates navigation accuracy, ensuring precise alignment between imaging datasets and patient anatomy.
• Serves as the escalation point for complex OR technology issues, coordinating with biomedical engineering and vendor support
when necessary.
• Conducts root‑cause analysis on recurring technical or workflow issues and leads corrective action planning.
• Develops and maintains advanced system configurations, preferences, and procedural templates tailored to surgeon‑specific
needs.
• Leads advanced training programs for surgeons, residents, technologists, and OR staff on imaging and navigation best practices.
• Mentors junior technologists and clinical specialists, providing structured feedback and skill development.
• Creates competency assessments and contributes to credentialing processes for navigation system users.
• Provides expert consultation during product evaluations, competitive conversions, and high‑stakes customer engagements.
• Supports development of strategic account plans by analyzing procedural trends, technology utilization, and unmet clinical
needs.
• Leads quality assurance initiatives related to imaging accuracy, navigation reliability, and OR technology performance.
• Ensures strict adherence to regulatory standards, radiation safety protocols, and institutional policies.
• Maintains readiness of all navigation and imaging equipment, ensuring optimal performance for high‑acuity cases.
• Oversees room setup for complex procedures, ensuring all devices, instruments, and software components are properly
integrated.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal,
state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training
Associate’s degree in Healthcare Applied Science


Licensure/Certification
• Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) certification
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification


Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of clinical experience with progressive leadership responsibilities and successful completion of advanced surgical navigation training program within twelve months of hire.
