Position Summary
Develop and demonstrate competency in all aspects of health-system pharmacy practice including; pharmacotherapy, patient care,
distributive services, drug information, formulary evaluation, policy development, and practice management.
Essential Functions
• Committed to the completion of the educational goals and objectives of the residency program and to the mission and values of
Baptist Health.
• Provide service and guidance consistent with the mission and vision of the Baptist Health Department of Pharmacy Services and the Clinical Pharmacy Team.
• Complete one or more outcome-oriented projects.
• During clinical practice experiences, demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, execute, and monitor pharmaceutical care plans
designed to improve the quality of patient care while effectively utilizing resources.
• Perform verbal and written pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetic, and nutritional support consultations for physicians and other
healthcare providers.
• Provide pharmacists and pharmacy students with clinical education and training congruent with core competencies and educational objectives.
• During practice management experiences, demonstrate the ability to identify problems, make judgments, communicate effectively,
and assume responsibility for the use of medications and the medication delivery system.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of pharmacy workload, human resource management, and the application of
automated medication distribution systems.
• Organize and maintain appropriate documentation of clinical and practice management activities for purposes of pharmacy
management and hospital accreditation.
• Observe and/or participate on Baptist Health multidisciplinary committees, such as the Pharmacotherapy Committee.
• Modify performance and behavior based on evaluation and self-assessment.
• Participate in the pharmacy resident recruitment and selection processes.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
• Participates in medical resident training through multidisciplinary patient care rounds, and formal education programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Training
Doctor of Pharmacy required from an ACPE-accredited Pharmacy School.
Licensure/Certification
Must be licensed by Alabama Board of Pharmacy obtain license no later than 9/1 in the same year following 7/1 hire date.
