Position Summary 

The Practice Support Specialist is responsible for optimizing the functionality and user proficiency of the ELLiE electronic health record (EHR) and associated clinical systems across physician practices. The Practice Support Specialist educates providers and their clinical support teams on effective EHR workflows and promotes the use of advanced digital solutions including telemedicine. The specialist provides direct, hands-on support and a takes a proactive approach in identifying and implementing optimization opportunities for the EHR and practice workflow in collaborating with IT, clinical, and operational leaders.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with physicians and practice staff to assess current EHR workflows through regular site visits and offer personalized in-person support and training on ELLiE functionalities and best practices for providers and clinical support staff.
  • Organize and facilitate new provider trainings and ongoing educational/refresher trainings to ensure continuous learning and adaption to system updates.
  • Provide hands-on training and resolve issues with telemedicine and digital applications.
  • Identify optimization and workflow redesign opportunities to streamline practice processes and collaborate with IT Operations and Products teams to develop and implement solutions and ensure that changes meet user needs and compliance standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with physicians, APPs, and practice staff.
  • Reinforce EHR best practices and address any emerging issues or challenges to enhance user proficiency.
  • Effectively communicate with practice staff.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Review data and analytics to identify trends, usage patterns, and areas for improvement in EHR utilization.
  • Monitor EHR performance metrics and user feedback to identify areas for further optimization and improvement.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions 

  • Multitask across various projects, supporting the AVP of Physician Optimization in special initiatives.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education/ Training 

  • Bachelor degree in a related area of study required or
  • Associate degree and two (2) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section) required or
  • High School Graduate or equivalent and four (4) years of directly related work experience may also substitute for the Bachelor’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section) required
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required

Licensure/ Certification 

  • Epic Ambulatory or Epic Credentialed Trainer Certification preferred

Experience 

  • 2 Years of experience using Epic electronic health record required
  • Experience in telehealth services and digital health technologies required
  • Strong mentoring and coaching abilities, particularly in a healthcare setting required
  • Familiarity with Epic, Microsoft Office Suite, and various business support applications required
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirement required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
